Beth is the daughter of Dr. Lorne Pierce and Edith Chown Pierce, both of whom were ardent collectors of Canadian glass. Both were authors and wrote several books on Canadiana. Beth is also an author as well as a poet, a dancer, an artist and a collector. At 103 she still leads a writing workshop, she actively engages in assembing collages of stamp art and entertains friends. In 2017 she donated several articles from her collection, including a replica pitcher, made by Jamie Sherman, and numerous artifacts shown in the photo captioned “Donated to Coach House”, to the Coach House Museum. Recently, she donated an extensive Nova Scotia pressed glass collection to the Coach House. In the photo captioned “Beth with Glass Ring” she is holding a ring made by Jamie Sherman from glass melts used to manufacture the replicas he made for the ROM. He gave it to Beth at the opening of the Glassworks Exhibit in May of 2023.
